Thanks Dilog Very Happy The blog ...

Wedding Blog

Well what can I say, wow, I am a husband to the most amazing person ever and we are both so happy!

The build up to the wedding was so stressful but so worth it in the end. We went to every possible venue around the ....London.... area and looked at both obvious and the less so.

The morning we went to the Gherkin neither of us was sure. But when we entered level 39 both of us just went all funny and realised instantly that this was where we had to have the ceremony!

Now with a sky scraper theme the hunt started for a reception venue. Altitude 360 ticked all the boxes and was newly expanded into what was our venue for the afternoon/evening.

The day arrived a few months later and I was there in my morning tails suit waiting for the guests to arrive. The coaches were arriving in the distance and the nerves began to surge around my body. This is it!

They entered the room and were all speechless with the view and setting we had chosen. All of which had been a complete surprise to all guests except ushers which caused more complications in organisation, but was so worth it. It gave a real energy to the day for everyone.

The arrival of the bridal party began with the Voice of Pavarotti himself souring to his version of Caruso. With Debbie being last to enter and a huge lump in my throat and tears in my eyes due to simply incredible image that was walking towards me. Debbie was the most magnificent image I had ever laid eyes on. A real princess.

The ceremony began with a Civil ceremony which, although short, was so special. We survived the ‘any persons here present’ moment, despite a few giggles. And before we knew it we were signing the wedding register. My brother and Debbie’s cousin were the witnesses and as more tears flowed we had officially gone and done it. Man and Wife, wow.

We exited the room as the Rabbi took his place to carry out our Jewish blessing. This began with us entering the room again to ‘Greatest day’ by Take That. The Rabbi was so lovely and he even wrote a beautiful speech about the Princess meeting her Prince as part of the blessing ceremony. We exchanged rings and after breaking the glass under my foot the celebration began. With Mazeltov being played by the amazing guys from String Fever, who then transitioned into an incredible set which got everyone dancing while the bubbly and Pimm's flowed. As we left the Gherkin a group shot was taken of all the guests and we made our way down to the stunning wedding cars and white coaches for the rest of the excitement to ensue.

What was so lovely about travelling in a wedding car is that everyone that you pass smiles. We went past so many different sorts of passers by and all, without fail raised a smile and it seemed to lift their day. It was such a lovely thing.

On arriving at the 2nd venue, Altitude 360 we slid past a few guests, up the lift to the 28th floor and hid in our entrance area. Next to the stage and while downing loads of water and practicing a few moves from our dance, we prepared for out grand entrance.

The guests were all gathered in the first space with String Fever continuing to blow everyone away. They stopped and our entrance music boomed out. From Carmina Burana (Known as the X Factor tune now) the lights all around the venue were flashing, with silhouettes of us being beamed onto the transition door. The blinds remotely went down and the room was darkened with the atmosphere becoming electric. A sequence of heavy bass heart beats then transitioned the music into ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’. Debbie and I sang this as a duet as the door raised slowly with the dry ice pouring underneath until it culminating in all the guests entering our area and everone dancing and singing it together, amazing, amazing energy/atmosphere at this point everyone was just going mental! This then went straight into the Jewish dancing where we separated and while he girls had a lovely time spinning and dancing together. We, the guys were all smashing about. With me being thrown around like a rag doll. Being spun, thrown and bounced all over the place. Such a funny thing, but its great at bringing everyone together. Debbie and I were then lifted up on a chair and the cheering and excitement continued.

As I ran round the corner and wiped off the sweat from my brow and knocked back some more glasses of water Ben, Mike and I got ready to sing the guests into dinner. The door opened for the dinning area as we sung a Medley of ‘Circle of Life’ and ‘Can you Feel the Love Tonight’ after taking all our seats dinner was served.

Speeches were made throughout dinner and through more laughter, banter and tears we all headed back to the stage area where Debbie made a short speech at the end of which ‘Pure Imagination’ from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as the initial door rose again to reveal a Wonka wonderland with a huge white chocolate fountain, a tier of Lola’s cupcakes masses of crazy balloons and sweets galore. Everyone was itching to dive under the rising door and get tucking in but I told everyone to wait and control themselves. When the door reached the top, to finish the wonderland in true style, an Oompa Loompa stepped out and welcomed everyone in to enjoy the sugar high that came shortly after. I was totally blown away by this part of the day. With it being my favourite movie ever it just seemed so incredible that I was actually in the Wonka wonderland myself!

The band then began and the dancing and drinking continued for the rest of the night. But I have to say, all I drank was endless water and a coffee. I didn’t need anything more I was just so happy and enjoying myself so much, I didn’t want anything to stop me from taking in as much as possible.

We all left at midnight and after all the goodbyes we got in our cab and headed off to our hotel.- more to come

Honeymoon Blog

...We all left Altitude 360 at midnight and after all the goodbyes we got in our cab and headed off to our hotel.

The next day we left for our honeymoon. Flying from Heathrow to Hong Kong for 3 nights in the city. What a great place Hong Kong is! People say it in London, but when you walk around it is like you’re in a movie. Each street offering some more surprises. We went all over, down market streets, crossed on the star ferry to HK island, up Victoria peak and even stumbled across a traditional Chinese opera in the street!! The food in HK was stunning and I have to say it wasn’t that different from good restaurants in the UK.

Bali was a 5hr flight from there and was Paradise indeed. The hotel was the most beautiful place I have ever been to. With 2 infinity pools overlooking the ocean and delicious restaurants all over. Including local styles, Italian, Japanese and stunning seafood grill right on the beach edge. The island had beautiful coves/bays all over, crystal clear sea, great waves for a body boarding session and Fantastic food being served in breathtaking settings to boot. The most perfect of places for our Honeymoon.

We also chartered a fishing boat where I caught the fish of a lifetime, a 20kg GT, AMAZING!! We went to a safari park and were able to have a picture taken with a baby orang-utan, and a Lion cub. What was madness was the fact you could have one taken with a fully grown lioness. So of course we did hat too!

We both loved the island and really enjoyed our trip there. It was such a shame to have to leave.

So there you have it, an amazing few weeks. But now we are married and very much looking forward to a lifetime of shared experiences, love and happiness for the rest of our lives x x
